Denton, TX – US Aviation has expanded its presence at Denton Airport by absorbing Aircraft Precision Maintenance. APM founder Wesley Pearce and his associates have moved all of the APM assets into a new 14,400 square foot facility adjacent to the US Aviation complex. With the expansion of US Aviation’s maintenance operations, the company will now have mechanics on “24-hour call” and will continue open shop hours 18 hours a day, seven days a week.

Denton, TX – Denton High School has 80 students enrolled in their Junior ROTC program. Of those, eight kids signed up for a Private Pilot Ground School course that is designed to take them through the written exam. Three of the students have already indicated they plan to follow up immediately with flight training. So when seven of the eight showed up at US Aviation on Denton Airport, they were given a full tour of the Professional Flight Training facilities, the maintenance shop and the LSA showroom. They also sat in on a ground school session.

Denton, TX – Mike Sykes, CEO of US Flight Academy, opened the graduation ceremonies for 16 Chinese students who began a professional pilot training course last November. Each student received a certificate verifying that they had successfully completed all training requirements as set forth by the Civil Aviation Administration of China in conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration and conducted by US Flight Academy.

Denton, TX – In the month of June, the US Flight Academy set a Personal Best record in rental and flight training hours. They recorded 3322 hours, of which 2547 were logged by students in their professional pilot training program. Then in July, they set new records, with 4428 total hours in training and rental. This time 3575 hours were part of the career pilot program.

Denton, TX – The number of students enrolled in the Chickasaw Nation Aviation and Space Academy more than doubled this year as 82 students signed up for the five-day summer camp. During their visit to the US Flight Academy, 73 students had the opportunity to experience a ground school class and then flew in a Diamond DA-40. The students were also given a tour of the DTO tower and were provided a catered lunch.

Denton, TX – Though he’s still working on his Sport Pilot License at the US Flight Academy, Michael Combs has plans to use his ticket as few ever will. He recently had an unveiling of the REMOS GX LSA he intends to fly in all 50 states in 2010. Few people have taken off on such an adventure with so little time in their logbooks and no one has yet attempted all 50 in a Light Sport Aircraft.

Denton, TX – Of the 104 Chinese students sent to the United States for professional pilot training, all of them are ahead of schedule. They were given a year to complete the program at US Flight Academy and it appears that the first group of 16 students, which all have their IFR ratings, will be headed home in September, two months early. When they leave the country, they will have logged about 250 hours, completed their Commercial and Multi engine ratings along with the ATP written exam. Their final 20 hours of flying will include 10 hours of C-90 King Air simulator time and 10 hours of actual flying in a C-90.

Denton, TX – Pratt & Whitney Engine Services has issued a dealer and installation agreement to US Aviation allowing them to install P&Ws Turbine Tracker System. The system operates like the black box on an airliner, monitoring all engine activity. It can be expanded to keep track of any airframe setting changes.
The hardware and software program provides aircraft owners/operators with critical aircraft performance data used to reduce maintenance and operating costs. US Aviation is the second facility in the DFW area favored with an installation authorization.

Denton, TX – US Flight Academy, a division of US Aviation, received a two-year authorization from the Chinese CAAC last fall to train Chinese students for airline careers. The first group of 16 students has completed the requirements for their private pilot’s license and is now working on instrument and commercial ratings. The students expect to return to China in about five months to begin a year of simulator training with various models of Boeing aircraft.

Denton, TX – The FAA has granted the US Flight Academy the rare right to Self Examination for their Part 141 training programs. As of May 1, 2009 the flight school is authorized to issue licenses and pilot upgrades without relying on the services of a Designated Pilot Examiner. The Self Examination award is due in part to the 95 percent written and check ride pass rate that the Academy had established.

Denton, TX – The US Flight Academy has hired Jim Tardi as Vice President, Director of Training for all operations. The announcement was made by Mike Sykes, President of US Aviation Group, which owns US Flight Academy.
Tardi, who holds ATP, Multi and Commercial Single Engine ratings is also a CFII and MEI instructor. Most recently, he was Director of Training at the Air Safety Flight Academy in Glendale, AZ. Prior to that, he worked with Pan Am International Flight Academy, now called Trans Pac Academy in Phoenix. While with Pan Am, Tardi oversaw
the flight training for approximately 1000 Chinese students.
